I’ve always fellt unqualified when it comes to sharing about beauty and skincare which is why I’ve never done it before now. I’m no where close to a professional like those YouTube goddesses, even though, I’ve been putting this stuff on my face since those awkward teen years. Professional or not, I still wear beauty and skincare products and thought that I’d share with you what I’ve been loving, in case it strikes your fancy! My winter skincare products are all about keeping my skin hydrated and glowing during the dry season. I’ve slowly been moving towards more organic and natural products for my skincare regime. I do still use some products that aren’t so that I can target my acne prone skin (and because I like them), but most of my favorite winter skincare products do fall under the organic category. Just so that we’re all on the same page, my skin tends to be more oily.
Here’s what’s been going on my face this winter…
This is one of my absolute faves! It’s been on rotation for the better part of a year. It was my first, “I’m turning 30 and I need to start worrying about anti-aging and keeping my neck from looking like a turkey in a decade!!” product. Not only does it smell delicious, but it really replenishes my skin and keeps it hydrated.
I purchased this mask over a year ago at a local event here in Sacramento called Makers Mart. Among The Flowers, previously Fig + Moss, is a wonderful company that’s all about that organic life. If you’re looking for hydration then OMG does this mask do the trick, like seriously! Whenever my skin is feeling a bit dull or just in need of a bit of lovin’, I reach for this. It comes in powder form and you just add a bit of warm water to give it the preferred consistency. My skin is always vibrant and plump feeling when I’m done, like that “I just got a facial” feeling.
This scrub is made from walnuts, obviously. I wanted a more natural scrub for my beauty regime and landed on this one. The granules are a bit on the rougher side since they’re pieces of walnut, which doesn’t bother me, but may be too much for some. It smells great and it definitely gets the job done! I use it once or twice a week to keep my pores clear and free from unwanted friends aka pimples and it remove any dry skin that the winter weather has brought on.
I use this serum a couple nights a week around my eyes and on my neck and chest. Since my skin tends to be more oily in general, I don’t need to apply the oil serum nightly on my face or I’ll be a bit too moisturized. This leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. I’ll even apply it on my lips if they’re feeling a bit dry and it looks exactly like lip gloss!
This toner does wonders for my acne prone skin. I’d kind of given up on toner since it always left my skin feeling tight and dried out, but decided to try this out a few months ago and my skin gave a thumbs up. I experienced no dryness after!! This toner literally has five ingredients- water, apple cider vinegar, witch hazel, clary sage, and sandalwood oil. It does have a strong apple cider vinegar smell, so be warned if you’re not a fan of that scent.
My little lip facial wonder! This winter, my lips have been excessively dry which is a big no-no when you want to rock those fun, bold lips out on the town. I love Tarte to begin with because of their ingredients, so when this scrub was recommended to me, I just had to try it. It smells and tastes delicious, like peppermint, and is less mess due to the style of the applicator. The shea butter leaves my lips feeling moisturized after exfoliating my lips. What more could you want?!
Again with the dry lip situation. This balm is a total dream and has been such a lifesaver this winter! If you can get past the $30 prices tag, I would definitely recommend giving it a try. Unlike a lot chapsticks or balms, this doesn’t have beeswax or vaseline which is awesome because it actually moisturizes your lips! Plus, it’s not sticky like a gloss.
A natural way to scrub those winter blues away! If you don’t own a one of these, then please do yourself a favor and go get one. I’ve used a body brush daily for years and love it! I use it before showering. Some of the major benefits are that it removes dead skin cells and gets those new cells growing (making your skin super soft), reduces cellulite , helps your body get rid of toxins, prevents ingrown hairs, unclogs pores, and the list goes on! Basically, you need one.
What are some of your favorite winter skincare products? I’d love to hear.
