Explore Panama City, Florida with Angelle Marix

This week, we’re leaving the big city behind and heading to a warm, beautiful place that screams summer vacation! It’s a picturesque location that makes you want to grab a mojito while you soak up some sun on its white sandy beaches. This week we’re exploring Panama City, Florida with the lovely Angelle Marix! If you missed any of the previous weeks of my summer travel series, be sure to read all about Milan and Manchester.

I came to know Angelle over a year ago through a blogger community that we were both part of called Style Collective. Her joy and warmth drew me in, making me want to follow along on all of her adventures. Not only does is she beautiful on the outside, but she has a beautiful heart as well, which makes her a real treasure. Plus, she has the most Darlin’ accent ; ) I hope you enjoy exploring this amazing beach destination with Angelle!

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your blog?

Hey, I’m Angelle. I am a life and style blogger for Dashing Darlin’. I’ve been married to my hubby for over 19 years. We have blessed with four amazing kids. My blog was launched 2 years ago, and my focus is faith, family and fashion with a little traveling mixed in there too.

Your travels have been giving me all the feels lately, especially those Instagram stories *sigh*! Have you always had a love for travel and exploring new places?

Long before kids were added to our life, we were traveling fools. Europe, Hawaii, Virgin Islands, Alaska, California, Mexico, just to name a few. Now, we travel to nearby, southern cities that offer us just as much character, good food and relaxation.

So, tell us about Bay Point in Panama City, it looks dreamy! What are some things that make this destination one of your favorites?

I feel like this area is a hidden gem. It is not commercialized like most areas along the Florida coastline. It has a little something for everyone from golf to tennis to a full service spa to a private island to electric bike rentals to paddle boarding in the bay. They also have tons of outdoor activities, and y’all, they have even live music throughout the week on the pier. It offers all of the amenities of a cruise boat, but the best part is that it is on land.

What are the best areas and places to stay?

We personally fell in love with the Sheraton Bay Point Resort in Panama City. All of the staff and employees were so helpful and happy. There are a few other option, but this  was our top choice.

P.S. This place had a phenomenal smell in the rooms, hallways and even the foyer. That is a big deal to me.

Being a fashionista, do you have a go-to look when you’re en route to a destination?

When it is a summer vacation, I usually choose boho chic. This style is my go to for comfort yet stylish. It compliments the whole tropical vibe too.

What are some beach essentials that you can’t live without this summer?

I can’t live without my waterproof makeup by Ashley Sievert which has SPF in it too. A few other things would be my straw tote, straw hat, and a cute kimono which I use as a swimsuit coverup.

Are there any hidden gems that you discovered during your trip?

Honestly, the hidden gem would be Shell Island. It’s a private beach that can only be accessed by boat. It is so beautiful. It doesn’t have the large crowds of people which was so nice. We found lots of seashells including some sand dollars too.

Where are your favorite spots to grab a bite, have a drink and give into that sweet tooth craving?

The great thing about staying at the Sheraton Bay Point Resort is that they have three restaurant options on their property. Flip Flops Pool Bar is right by the main building and is perfect for lunch when taking a dip in the pool. The buffalo chicken flatbread was delicious. They have Pelican’s which is the restaurant on the pier which had amazing nachos, mahi mahi tacos and refreshing drinks. And, Tides is the fancier option which has a mean ribeye, tasty burger and lots of seafood dishes. For my sweets, they also have a cafe that serves Starbucks coffee and fresh baked pastries which I hit a few times.

Most importantly, what do we need to pack for a summer adventure to Panama City?

Well, I tend to overpack. I don’t want to regret not having enough. But, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a couple of swimsuits, a few outfits, and some moisturizing lotion should be perfect. I brought a couple of books and some red bull just because I love to be prepared.

The photos are stunning! And I am so adding Panama City to my list this summer; I haven’t been since college (and that was a different trip haha).

Haha! Yes, I can imagine it’d be a little different going back, but I wouldn’t hold it against you if you wanted to relive the college years! I’m glad this post inspired you to take a trip there again : )
