Okay, so I’m not going to lie to you all and say that it’s cold right now where I’m at! It has been gorgeous, sunny and 70’s all week here in Sacramento, California. I am LOVING it!! I’m sure it’ll go back to being colder again, but until then, it’s tee shirt weather for me. In the rest of the world, where the weather understands the meaning of winter, it’s cold and a woman needs a coat. I won’t parade all the cute spring items in front of you. You can’t even wear out yet! This post is for all of you who are currently braving the cold.
So let’s talk about this fur coat!
How amazing is this beauty?! I can not claim full ownership since it still, technically, belongs to my mother. I cling onto the hope that she will pass it on to her favorite, oldest daughter when the time comes. Don’t worry, I want her to live a long and happy life! My mother (none of us kids call her mom. I know, it’s weird) got this rabbit fur coat in eighth grade as a gift from her boyfriend, (Talk about standards!!) which he bought for $400. It would seems that the caliber of Jr. Higher’s has really declined since the 70’s. When I was young, she would let me borrow her furs to wear with a costume or an outfit for a dressy event. It was always so much fun! Now I can actually appreciate what I’m wearing and how fabulous it is!
I’ll be honest, most types of fur jackets and vests are a little too loud and girly for me. I don’t have much in my closet in that category. I prefer to not be the center of attention or do things that would draw extra attention to myself which is the total opposite to what the definition of fur is in my mind. Because of that, I haven’t gone too far into the world of fur. For some reason though, I absolutely love this jacket! It’s fur and yet somehow totally me. The whole bomber jacket style/ exaggerated collar thing turns it into a statement piece that really fits my style. The fact that it’s something of my moms makes it more me than anything else would be. There’s just something about it that makes me totally okay with being a little loud. Maybe because it’s a beauty and deserves a little appreciation after all these years.
