Last Friday, I had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of a “Meet & Greet” at DAMAS, one of my favorite boutiques here in Sacramento, for First Friday. This cute shop is located in the ever growing area of Oak Park which seems like it’s adding something new every time I’m there. During First Friday, the shops and restaurants stay open a bit later and have fun things like in-store events and specialty items on the restaurant menus. It’s such a fun way to spend a warm summer eve, just walking around and popping into all the shops. Over at DAMAS, it was a wonderful night of mingling, shopping, and drinking champagne!
The group of ladies that were a part of the “Meet & Greet” at DAMAS were all local bloggers, photographers, artists and business women who are all pursuing their dreams while working, raising families, and just living a busy life. It was so fun being there with these totally inspirational babes!! People were able to come in and pick our brains about how we go about doing what we love. This was awesome because we were able to share all of our tips and tricks that we’ve learned so far and we’re able to help anyone who wanted advice. Plus, we got to meet some pretty awesome gals in the process!

One of the most wonderful surprises that I’ve discovered since I started blogging are the friendships that I’ve found within the creative community here in Sacramento. It’s so nice to have women automatically understand where you’re coming from and what you’re talking about when say weird stuff like, “I reorganized my hastags today” or “I’m working on increasing my engagement”. They don’t need an explanation because that’s their life, too!
Even though everyone is working hard to make their own dream a reality, there’s no petty competition or negativity. It’s rare and beautiful and makes me love and appreciate our community here so much. Next to being able to have my own blog, where I can share something that I love through writing and photography, the community is definitely my favorite thing. They’re all amazing women who inspire me to continue to do what I love! I definitely feel the #girlboss vibes!
My friend, Kyra and I were able to go into DAMAS before the event and shoot some photos in some of their cute new items, so, if you find yourself thinking, “Oh, that’s fab!” as you scroll through the photos, then you need to get yourself over to DAMAS and check out their clothes ASAP.
Thank you DAMAS for hosting a wonderful event which brought women together and celebrated their accomplishments!
