A leather jacket encompasses so many things. When I think of a leather jacket, I think classic, edgy, timeless, modern, bad girl. They’ve gone from practical bomber jacket to high fashion staple over time and have become one of the most classic pieces to have in your closet. Last year, I decided that it was time to take the plunge and invest in a leather jacket. I’ve only purchased vegan leather before, not out of any kind of dislike for the real thing, but I had just never bought it till recently. I must say, I had no idea what I was missing out on! I’ve wanted one for a while, but because I saw it as an investment piece for long term wear, I wanted to put a bit of thought into it. As you’ve probably figured out already, I’m a little obsessed with outerwear!
The PERFECT Layering Item
There are so many options out there, which can make it pretty overwhelming, but you can be sure to find one that fits your personal style. You can find something sweet and soft like a nude or light pink that’ll be perfect for spring and the workplace. If you’re a casual gal, tans and browns could be more of the way to go perfect for layering over a denim shirt or graphic tee. If your style is more girly, don’t think that leather jackets aren’t for you. There are some really fun leather jacket options out there that have more feminine details like puffy shoulders and scalloped waistlines. For me, I was willing and ready to find that classic black moto jacket, totally edgy with all the fun details that I love on leather jackets buckles, pockets, lots of hardware, and most importantly some fabulous quilted shoulders! I was determined to find quilted shoulders…and I found them!! Before you invest in a leather jacket, I suggest going with vegan leather. You’ll have a chance to experiment with different cuts, colors, and styles to see what you feel best in and figure out what works with your wardrobe. There are endless options! I have really enjoyed having a leather jacket this winter, but I’ve discovered something as the weather has begun to warm up, a leather jacket is the PERFECT layering item for going from winter into spring! Around this time of year in Sacramento, the weather really starts warming up. During the day the weather is glorious! Everyone‘s outfits are changing to fit the warmer temps, but you find you still need that extra little layer because the mornings and evenings are still pretty chilly (that morning shade is the worst!! Brrrr!) I’m getting so much more wear out of it now than I did during the winter. I’m so excited that I don’t have to put it away to hibernate for the summer just yet. I can’t wait to layer it over my dresses, skirts, and shorts this spring!
Hope you’re having a lovely Thursday! Meaghan xx
