LBD: Long Black Dress

Long Black Dress

This week got off to a wonderful start by spending the day in San Francisco! I’ve desperately been needing a day away to just have a change of pace and relax. I’m sure that a lot of people wouldn’t associate being in a big city with relaxing, but I’m total city girl at heart. I lived in a far away land called London, England for a time, so there’s something that feels a bit like home when I get to be in the city. I think London will always be the place where I feel most at home, though. San Fran is sooo different from London, but it still has that buzzing, fast paced kind of thing going for it and that makes my little heart happy. I also grew up going there, so there are loads of great memories attached to it. Not only was the weather gorgeous while I was there, but I got to explore an area that I’ve somehow never been to before, the marina! Loads of cool, yummy spots to eat and cute little shops everywhere. It’s definitely going on my favorites list! It’s been almost two years since I’ve done any major traveling, so the wanderlust hits me hard sometimes and demands that I do something about it! Any other travel addicts out there who can relate?! Thinking of doing a bit of traveling later in the year…

Anyways, back to the fashion!

I know you’re all really familiar with that wonderful item known as a LBD! It’s such a necessary staple for every woman to have in their wardrobe. It’s a magical little wonder that can slim you down, carry you from day to night, and make you feel like you own the world who doesn’t need that in their life?! There’s another kind of LBD that should definitely be added to your vocabulary list and your closet (if it hasn’t already)…the Long Black Dress!! I think they are pretty fabulous. Depending on what type you go with, they can be really versatile, and also add a bit more flare and statement because of the length. You can go in a more dressy direction, or go with something more casual so that you have the option of dressing it up or down. I already have some simple options for long and short black dresses in my closet, so I was really wanting an awesome statement type dress. I fell in love with this long black dress when I saw it during the holiday sale at Zara (it’s the most amazing sale!). It’s really simple, but it has so many great details. The detailing on the bottom of this dress is my personal favorite!! Sadly, the dress isn’t available anymore, but I’ve linked some similar, amazing options below. I’m such a fan of the current semi sheer dress trend right now. It’s such a fun take on things, and when it’s done right, it can be really amazing. Normally I would style it with sneakers and a leather jacket to wear it during the day, but I wanted to go a bit evening glam this time around. Now that award show season in full swing, I was inspired to dress up a bit.

Hope you like the look! Meaghan xx
