I’m sorry for being completely absent the past couple of months! April was wedding central for me and, by the time May rolled around, I was in desperate need of a breather. I felt completely exhausted! The second half of May I caught the flu, followed by a nasty cold which meant I had to cancel all of my birthday plans and made zero progress on blogging. It was a really rough month to say the least! When the time came to write again, I had the worst case of writer’s block. I, then, realized that I had been pouring out all my thoughts and creativity into blogging, but I had not continued to refuel and keep that creative part of me inspired to keep growing and moving forward. After my small revelation, I took a step back, took time to figure out how I’m inspired, and take note of the things that I can do to keep my creative game strong. I’ve missed you all and I’m beyond excited to reconnect. Now time for clothes!
So, I’m sure by this point in time, everyone has crossed paths with an off the shoulder top. If not, I’m just not sure what to say to you (kidding, kidding). Off the shoulder tops pretty much took things over this spring season and have continued to dominate for the summer season. I have been such a big fan since I first started seeing more of them last year. As with most trends, I had to wait till I could find it in my niche before purchasing. The style of off the shoulder tops generally have a really soft and feminine feel to them which is fabulous on most women but, typically, just not right for me. I just had to wait and keep an eye out for one that made sense for my style. Then the day came, I felt like the heavens opened and the angels began to sing the song, “My Type” by Saint Motel when I saw this denim off the shoulder beauty at Zara! The denim gives the top a more structured, minimal look which still allows it to be true to its’ flowy roots without being overly girly. I love that it creates a different take on what’s becoming a wardrobe staple for this year– I’m a happy gal! I styled the denim top with my favorite pair of highwaisted cutoffs to keep things casual and cool in this Sacramento heat. I purchased these shorts a couple years ago from H&M. That store is probably my favorite spot for inexpensive shorts and pants. I finished off my look with my black lace-up flats. They have become one of my go-to pairs shoes! I wear them all the time since they go with just about everything and are incredibly comfortable. I secretly like styling them with shorts because they give the illusion that my legs are longer than they actually are. I’m not fooled though… I know that they’re still short! Anyways, thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading and are inspired to try out one of my favorite summer trends!
